Mississippi River 4
"The Mississippi Headwaters"
Lake Itasca in Itasca State Park, MN. Here are the headwaters of the Mississippi River at 450m above the sea. Water flow starting here takes approximately 90 days to run down 4,000km to the gulf of Mexico. The average gradient is only 11cm/km. The river at this point is so narrow (only a few meters) that people can easily cross it.
The Mississippi River running through a forest a few miles away from the headwaters. The water flows very quietly and slowly unlike mountain streams.
